Write to the Source (part 2)

A writing workshop by Katherine De Lorraine

Norton-Community-Archaeol-013

In the first two sessions I explained how the mind’s past conditioning as well as the ego’s defenses and demands blur our perception and block valuable information that often keeps us confused, stuck in unwanted patterns, or indecisive; you know, those things we call problems. Awareness of this is the first step to clarity. The fact that you are interested in exploring means you are awake enough to not content to walk in fogs of illusion. Most people say, “That’s just how life is.” It also means you are brave enough to examine your role in creating your life.

I used an analogy of archaeology digs to explain this writing process. We start by clearing the site location by rapid, unedited writing. From that we intuitively select specific phrases to examine by using the Socratic method of inquiry. With these results, we synthesize the information in general areas of our lives to determine effects.

Now we are going to be more daring by not only uncovering our thoughts but by also challenging them. Why? The human ego often causes us to lie to ourselves. Can we prove it? Yes. For example, think of a time you said you could not do something, and you did. Hum? Who’s in charge of you? Let’s “Write to the Source” and find out.
